Books about Essential Oils

Sunday 20 April 2008 @ 3:02 am

The subject of essential oils is an extremely complex one. Besides the fact that there are hundreds of plant extracts involved, there are issues like safety to be concerned with. Most people beginning to become more familiar with essential oils will want to do some reading.

There is a book called the Essential Oils Desk Reference. The third edition is out now. The book is compiled by Essential Science Publishers. This volume would seem to be an encyclopedic work on everything there is to know about essential oils.

It does, in fact, have information on all the basic facts of the subject. These include a long list of ailments they can help, where the oils come from, and how they are to be used. What the name doesn’t tell you is that it refers most often to a particular brand of essential oils called Young Living.

The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment is a book by Valerie Ann Worwood. This author is a researcher in the field who runs an aromatherapy clinic. Her book describes recipes for uses of all kinds. These include medicinal, cosmetic, and cooking with essential oils. If you simply want a book that tells you how to use and combine essential oils, this is a good one.

At least one book is aimed at the medical profession. One such book is called Essential Oils Integrative Medical Guide: Building Immunity, Increasing Longevity, and Enhancing Mental Performance with Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. This book, by Dr. Gary Young goes into the science of essential oils.

It discusses research being done in the field. It also explains the chemical properties of the oils and how the body reacts to them. He goes on to explain just how these substances are used in medical situations. It is a book designed for doctors that is also enlightening for lay people.

Robert Tisserand, who wrote the first English language books on essential oils, along with Tony Balacs, wrote an important book on the safe use of essential oils. It is titled Essential Oil Safety: a Guide for Health Care Professionals. The book is full of information about the essential oils.

Some are toxic in certain amounts and to certain people, like children and pregnant women. It discusses how long the substances stay in the system and what effects they are likely to cause. It also recommends safe levels of use.

A book titled simply 375 Essential Oils was written by Jeanne Rose. It discusses the plants used to make essential oils. It explains how their botanical names are derived. It goes on to discuss the 375 oils in detail. It also gives a history of the use of these substances.

Of course, there are all sorts of books out there for medical professionals and lay people alike. Anyone who wants to learn more about essential oils can find information to help them in one of the many books that are available. The more you know about essential oils, the more they can help you in your everyday life.

How To Play Speed - Card Game

Friday 18 April 2008 @ 2:51 am

Speed is a fun card game that can be played by both adults and children with an ordinary deck of playing cards. True to its name, the game calls for quick thinking and fast movements.

The objective of the game is to go out. This can only be done by eliminating all of the cards in your hand. Each person in the game is dealt a total of 10 cards, face down, which they hold in front of them so only they can see. The remaining deck is placed face down in the center of the table and the top card is flipped up. The game then begins as two or more players race to try to get rid of their cards.

The only way a player can get rid of their cards is to put a card down that either goes before or after the card at the top of the pile. For example, if the card on the top of the discard deck, which is face up, is an eight, players can either put a nine or a seven on top of that card. An Ace can be either high or low and when an Ace is on the top in the discard pile, a person can put down either a King or a two.

There are no “turns” taken in the card game of Speed. Players race to see who can put down cards quicker. If a person has no cards in their hand that can go on top of the discard face up deck, they can pick as many cards as they want off of the face down deck. Occasionally, the play will stop long enough for players to be able to focus what is in their hands.

The card game of speed is similar to Uno, except that no one takes turns playing. The game moves very quickly and the first player who gets rid of all of his or her cards is the winner.

Speed generally takes about five to ten minutes to complete. It is an ideal game for children as it teaches them to think fast and helps them learn numerical order. It is also a fun game for adults, although it is more fun when played with two people than a group as it can get very hectic.

Parents who want to spend some time with their children playing games can play Speed as well as many other card games that children can enjoy. A simple deck of playing cards, which can usually be purchased for under a dollar, is all anyone needs to have hours of fun entertainment. In addition to Speed, other fun card games to play with children that can be played with a regular deck of playing cards include “War” and “Go Fish.” A deck of playing cards can be invaluable to anyone who is playing with young children or baby sitting.

In addition, children can also be taught to play card games with each other so they have something to do on rainy or cold days, instead of relying on computers, television and video games. Card games have been around for centuries and are still being enjoyed by young and old alike.

Ballroom Dancing is Making Waves

Thursday 17 April 2008 @ 3:30 am

Until recently, ballroom dancing often brought about mental images of elderly couples dancing two inches from their walkers. However, in recent years, ballroom dancing has developed a new, hipper, sexier image and people of all ages are standing up and paying attention.

Movies such as Strictly Ballroom and Shall We Dance have contributed greatly to the newer kinder image that ballroom dancing is developing in the United States. As an art form, ballroom dance is a beautiful sight to behold. Particularly when watching those participate on a competitive level.

Because of the rigorous training that is involved in competitive ballroom dancing, many couples that participate often consider this to be a sport more than a style of dance or manner of artistic expression. The term DanceSport is often used in reference to ballroom dancing in the International Style.

There are many styles of dance that fall under the banner of ballroom dancing. Some of these dances are often considered to be the most beautiful to watch as well as among the most sensual styles of dance on the planet. Only you can decide for yourself if ballroom dance is something that might interest you. I do, however, encourage you to take stock of the various styles and themes before unilaterally deciding to rule out all ballroom dance as a possible interest.

International Style

Under the International Style of ballroom dance there are two main categories of dance. They are Standard and Latin. The Standard style is typically hallmarked by Fred and Ginger sort of attire. By this I mean that the style of dress is very formal with men in coats with flowing tails and vests while the women wear very elegant gowns as part of their costumes. Latin dance is far more sensual in music, mood, and attire. Men wear tight fitting garments and women wear very little.

Standard

Not only is the style of dance between Standard and Latin very different but also the styles of dance. In Standard ballroom dancing you will find the following dances: the Quickstep, the Slow Foxtrot, the Tango, the Viennese Waltz, and the Waltz. The Tango for many is the highlight of the Standard event while others have a deep appreciation for the technical qualities of the many Standard dances of ballroom dancing.

Latin

For the younger generation, the Latin portion of competitions is the eagerly anticipated event. The style of dance is very exotic and emotional as well as incredibly beautiful to watch. The mood this style of dance brings not only to the dancers but also to the audience is almost palpable. The fan favorites of Latin dance include the Cha Cha, Paso Doble, the Rumba, the Samba, and Jive dance. This form of dance is certainly in keeping with the idea that dance is quickly becoming a sport. The energy required for these dances is phenomenal as is the fitness level required in order to wear the costumes.

American Style

The American standard when it comes to dance is a little different than the International Style. The two categories for American Style are Smooth and Rhythm. There are other differences as well. In International Style the couples are required to remain in a closed formation. For American Style ballroom dance these requirements are somewhat relaxed in order to allow for creative use of footwork. The step patterns for Latin or Rhythm dance are also slightly different than in the International Style of ballroom dancing though the sensuality of the music, costumes, and movements are very much the same.

Smooth

The smooth portion of the American Style of ballroom dance includes the Foxtrot, the Tango, the Viennese Waltz, and the Waltz.

Rhythm

In American Style Ballroom dance the Rhythm portion of the dance includes the following: the Bolero, the Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, the Mambo, and the Rumba. The audience still enjoys the intensity of Latin dance and Latin influence though there are other influences as well. These are still a much anticipated audience favorite in most competitions.

As you can see, ballroom dance has taken on a new intensity in recent years. If you have preconceived ideas of what ballroom dance really is, it is time you saw for yourself how sensual this style of dance can really be.

A First Visit to an Acupuncture Clinic

Wednesday 16 April 2008 @ 6:16 am

You might be thinking about making an appointment at an acupuncture clinic. Many people consider this for various symptoms; some common ones being persistent pain, stress-related symptoms, or other problems such as weight loss. In China, many people use their acupuncture visits as a periodic tune up in order to stay healthy.

Chinese acupuncturists sometimes get paid as long as their client is healthy, rather than when their clients have symptoms. So, let us take a tour of a modern American acupuncture clinic to see what it is like. A typical clinic looks like any professional office, and you will be shown into a room where you are comfortably seated in a chair. The acupuncture practitioner comes in and begins the diagnosis. There are two major parts to the diagnosis, physical observation and a discussion of your symptoms and environment. A basic physical observation will include taking your pulse and observing your tongue.

Unlike a traditional doctor’s office, your pulse is taken on both wrists, and at several points on each wrist. Your pulse is taken both near the surface of your wrist and also more deeply below the surface. These observations will be written down and used together with the discussion with the practitioner.

You should think about a number of things to discuss at your first acupuncture visit. If you are coming in for a particular symptom or set of symptoms, this should be a major part of the discussion. Think about several different aspects of your symptoms. Let’s say that you have persistent pain in your ankle, to use one example. The pain may not be constant during the entire day; it may ebb and wane depending on the hours of the day. The pain may increase or decrease due to certain activities, and you should observe these as much as possible. You might think that walking would certainly increase the pain, but sometimes walking is not as much of a problem as persistent standing, for example, as a cashier in a grocery store. Also, the pain might change depending on the times of the month, and that should also be mentioned to the acupuncture practitioner. Cause and effect, if any, is also important to report. Some things to consider if stress is a component, for possibly the pain started or increased when you got a new supervisor at work. Notice that a diagnosis for an acupuncture visit includes physical, emotional, social, and mental components to the diagnosis. So come to the acupuncture office armed with as much information as you can gather about the reason you are coming.

Once you and the acupuncture practitioner get through the initial diagnosis, some time is taken to construct a plan of treatments. Depending on the particular symptom that you have, and the other personal information that was taken in the initial diagnosis, your first treatment might be this same day, or you may be asked to return on a different day to start your treatments. The time of day and the particular days for acupuncture treatments are carefully selected in order to achieve the best result possible.

If you do have an initial treatment, it will be painless, and generally takes less than an hour, sometimes much less than that. The acupuncture practitioner will insert very slim needles at specific locations, which will remain for the number of minutes needed for your particular symptoms. When the needles are still you are not even aware of them. Inserting and removing needles is also pain free, rarely there may be a slight twinge, but not more than that. During your treatment you may feel more relaxed, a buzz of energy, slightly warmer at the needle insertion points, or exactly the same as when you came in. However, the needles are doing their work to regulate and rebalance the circulation in your body. So enjoy your first visit, and know that each visit brings you closer to your optimal health.

Email Advertising -Dead?

Wednesday 16 April 2008 @ 5:42 am

As I sit on my computer and type this article, I peer over at my gmail account. The spam keeps rolling in minute after minute. Is this really what email advertising has come to, an inbox full of spam?

Ok, it may not technically be spam, but I am getting tired of the countless offers through emails each and every day. What offers are ripoffs and what offers are genuine? I find myself confused and my mouse gets nervous and starts clicking that delete button.

Is email advertising still the way to go? In many of my received emails, people keep giving me leads or offering mailing to 96 million. Are these going to do me any good, or am I just going to be labeled as another spammer.

I would love the opportunity to make a full-time income online, but it seems all the information I receive doesn’t help. Of course everyone wants me to buy something, the next big thing. I know I have to buy some things to get ahead but I just don’t know who to believe anymore.

I guess this article is a bit of a rant, but some of you reading this will understand where I am coming from. All I ask, please don’t fill peoples inboxes with something you do not believe in. I advertise products I have purchased and love, I wish many other marketers would do the same.

The Advantages of Availing Air Freight Charters

Wednesday 16 April 2008 @ 3:53 am

For years, transporting goods by air is deemed to be the most expensive option there is for businessmen. However, time changed and newer efforts to make this means a cost effective measure has proven its worth. People now are fastly becoming involved in air forwarding business, either they may be the shipper or the shipment service provider.

Air freight is deemed to be the ultimate solution to all forwarding needs.
Additionally, it is also considered as the most lucrative option for ransport. While air freight may not appeal to lower rates, people considering this choice should look forward to long term profit rather than on the initial expenses. Upfront businessmen may see the expenses that entails setting up a newer system using the means as provided by air freight companies. The reasons are logical yet the gray line that sets boundary between profit and over-all efficiency rarely determine the actual playing field. Nonetheless, the big picture tells us how the whole game actually works.

With the speed and time resolved using air freight services, businessmen can obviously set leverage over those that do not use the same system. Imagine if your goods reached the market 3 or fewer days after the shipment. Imagine how much money that could generate. Then equate this to the losses you incurred by slower modes of transporting goods. See how much you have gained using air freight services against your losses with not availing their use.

Nevertheless, many are still a bit skeptical with how this system truly works
regardless of the fact that many have already shifted from not-so-fast modes of deliveries towards using air freights for shipment of goods. But skepticism is not holding back the trend. After all, it is the global economy that we are working with here.

Having these ideas in mind, its plain to see how advantageous the use of air freight services can be. Now, if you are into frequent shipments, it is best to find air freight charters that could cut the costs at some degree.

The internet has provided a sort of marketplace for air freight charter providers and shippers who would want to avail of such services. It covers the most comprehensive details and information on resources pertaining to air freight charters.

If you are a bit wary of making an approach, there will always be some brokers on online marketplaces that could help you out. Be careful though that the brokers or the air freight charter service provider you find is one that would not only help you in the process but could also dole you out from unwanted expenses.

Aside from the savings that you could get when you charter your leased or bought air freight charter, you could maximize savings by contacting intermediaries that would do all the works for. These works include the arrangement between you and the service provider, contacting all entities required to get things done and for resolving the extra payments and surcharges that you might incur if you are to work on your own.

Remember that there are hundreds of possibilities for additional charges that would be added to your final bill. It is best that you do not fall victim on this. Instead, you should find people that could help you get around from them, or better yet to save you from such charges and earn you in the process.

The Importance Of Having A Plan To Succeed

Monday 14 April 2008 @ 3:51 am

To succeed in your business efforts you must have a plan actually having a plan is vitally important. When one sets out their goals and objectives they do so with the real intent of accomplishing something. Setting goals is a different subject all together but if you want to succeed in your online ventures having a goal can give you a marker to aim for.

One of the reasons why people fail to achieve their goals is that they do not have a plan. They have the ideas and they know what they want but they do not organize themselves. So that they eventually over invest, run into dead ends or even attempt to do to may projects at the same time.

It is practically impossible to have success with any business you are in if you jump from one idea to another just because it sounds good. It is a sure way to fail or the very least waist your valuable time.

To put this in to perspective it would be crazy to go on a long car journey to a place you are unfamiliar with without planning your journey. Because the result would be that you would get lost and that is the same in business you would eventually lose your way.

The best way to combat all the many unexpected pitfalls one comes across is to plan. A rule of thumb is the 5
